How website speed affects sales

Visitors decide quickly whether a site is worth waiting for. Each extra second of loading gives them time to hit back and try a competitor, and the effect is strongest on phones with patchy connections.

Google measures this with Core Web Vitals. A Largest Contentful Paint (when the main content appears) of 2.5 seconds or less counts as good; over 4 seconds counts as poor. Large images, heavy scripts and slow hosting are the usual causes.

Why mobile experience matters

For most businesses, the majority of visits now come from phones. A site that only works well on a desktop makes those visitors pinch, zoom and hunt for buttons.

Good mobile experience means readable text without zooming, tap targets large enough for a thumb, short forms that work with autofill, and checkout or contact steps that don't fight the keyboard.

Signs your website needs a redesign

It's slow on mobile, hard to update without a developer, or still describes services you no longer lead with.

Enquiries or sales have flattened while traffic hasn't, visitors can't find the next step, or the design looks dated next to competitors. If several of these apply, a focused redesign usually pays back faster than more advertising.

How we calculate

Revenue from your website today

E-commerce: visitors × conversion rate × order value

Leads: visitors × conversion rate × close rate × deal value

What fixing the issues could add

Each issue you report (slow load time, weak mobile experience, an old design, unclear calls to action) adds a typical conversion uplift. The total is capped at 60%, and the difference between current and potential revenue is the estimated loss. Figures are estimates based on typical industry patterns, not guarantees.
